Best Super Bowl Ads of 2012
The big game has come and gone with a winner determined on the field. The question is, was there a winner during the commercial break? On Monday during Brand Buzz, we discussed the best ads of years past. The question now is who had the best ad this year?
If you missed Brand Buzz this week, you can download the ebook, Super Bowl Ads, and read more about the ads that came before. The biggest change this year was companies releasing their ads in the weeks leading up to the game. Did that change the excitement and enthusiasm for these spots? By watching them on YouTube before the big game does that mean you can now get up and go to the restroom during the commercial breaks without fear of missing something? Or does it help to build enthusiasm for the spots and build buzz with people talking about it online?
After an informal and unscientific poll Monday the spot most mentioned was Halftime in America with Clint Eastwood.
The most pre-game buzz probably came from the Honda CRV spot with Matthew Broderick. If the pre-release strategy worked for anyone it would be this spot. The buzz for a Ferris Bueller redo was pretty hot and heavy on social networks during the week before the game.
My personal favorite is actually from the soon to launch NBC Sports Network called The Next Ones. Maybe it’s because I have kids that are athletes so I see them in the spot. Or maybe it’s just because they really changed the conversation. Rather than focus on sports super stars that are paid millions of dollars to play the ad focuses on the kids that will play the sport next.
Did we cover your favorite? Is there a spot that you loved? Be sure to let us know which ones you thought were the best. Tomorrow we will cover the worst.
